These occupation groups were developed from the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) program, which has defined 23 major occupational groups that encompass over 800 different careers using the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system.

Bright Outlook occupations are expected to grow rapidly in the next several years, will have large numbers of job openings, or are new and emerging occupations. Green occupations are generally found in those industries involved in energy or environmental efficiency and renewal.

Type a keyword in the box and click the Search button for a list of matching occupations. The system will search for your keyword in the Occupation Title, Related Job Titles, and Occupation Description field of available occupations.
For example, the keyword nurse returns a list including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, surgical technicians, or home health aides.
Occupations are ranked based on how well they matched the keyword. The search results also indicate whether the keyword appears in the title, related job titles, or description of each occupation. Click on the matched indicator in the Related Job Titles and Occupation Description columns to view the corresponding matches. Click any of the Occupation title links under the Occupation column to view the Occupation profile page.
If your results include occupation groups that are greyed out, this indicates that there is no data associated with that group.
Click the Occupation Listing link to view an alphabetical list of all available occupation titles.

Begin by selecting the occupation group that covers the occupation you are searching for. Click the + beside the occupation group title, or the linked title itself, to expand your selection and view the individual occupations that make up that group.
Once you have found the occupation you are searching for, click on its title to display the occupation you wish to view within the profile page that you were previously viewing. You can also make this selection for the occupation group by clicking on the group link or selecting multiple occupations by clicking the checkboxes and hitting the search button at the bottom of the page.

Click the first letter of the name of the occupation you wish to select from the list. The page will reload to show you occupations that begin with that letter.
Occupations that are listed but are greyed out indicate that there is no data available for that occupation.

You can also select multiple occupations by clicking the checkboxes and hitting the search button at the bottom of the page.
Occupations by Education Program
Use this tab to search for Occupations by Education Program. Click on any of the Education Program links to view the occupations associated with the selected program. Use the letter links at the top to navigate through the alphabet for programs beginning with a selected letter.
Use this tab to search for an occupation by military occupational classification.
Choose from the following search methods: keyword search, MOC code (Military Occupational Classification), or select from a series of drop-down lists to search by Branch, Category and MOC.
Keyword - Enter a job title or occupational keywords and touch the Search button to return your results.
You can also type in a partial string and make a selection from the auto-complete suggestion list. Similarly, a description search will search for your keyword(s) only in the descriptions of available occupations. For example, searching with the keyword "acquisition" would return a list of any occupations that include the word "acquisition" in their descriptions, such as in logistics or management.
MOC Code - Enter the Military Occupational Classification code, e.g., 96U, and touch the Search button.
Search by Branch, Category and MOC - Search by making a selection from the drop-down lists (you are required to select from all three). Make your selections for Branch of Service, Personnel Category and Military Occupational Code, and touch Search.
Area - You can change the area selection by touching the Area link, displayed above the search panel.
Your search results will display on a new page. Once there, you can apply additional filters, such as Wage Requirement, Education, and others. Each result displays a group of indicators, including outlook, demand, educational requirements, and a wage range. Touch any of these icons to display a tooltip containing additional details.
Occupations by Occupation Code
This tab allows you to search for an occupation using an occupation code.

The Occupational Information Network (O*NET) database gives every occupation a unique code number. If you know the complete or partial code number of the occupation you wish to select, enter it in the text box and click the Search button to continue.
Once you have found the occupation you are searching for, click on its title, or O*NET Code, to display the occupation you wish to view within the profile page that you were previously viewing. You can also select multiple occupations by clicking the checkboxes and hitting the search button at the bottom of the page.
